UNDERGRADUATE

1: Go to pdx.edu/undergraduate-admissions/apply, submit the online application and pay the $50 fee.

2: Submit official transcripts (from all schools attended) to PSU.

3: Submit your SAT or ACT scores to PSU. (First year applicants only)

FRESHMAN ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • 3.0, cumulative, unweighted high school GPA
  • Complete 15 units of college preparatory coursework with grades of C- or better
    • English: 4 units
    • Mathematics: 3 units through Algebra II level
    • Science: 3 units (one year of laboratory science is recommended)
    • Social Studies: 3 units
    • Second Language: 2 units of the same language (Oregon high school graduates only)
  • Complettion of SAT or ACT

TRANSFER ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students with 30 or more transferable quarter credits (20 semester credits) earned after high school graduation will be reviewed for admission as a transfer student.

  • 2.25 cumulative GPA, from all colleges attended or 2.0 GPA with a transferable associate degree
  • Complete Writing 121 or equivalent with a grade of C- or higher
  • Meet Second Language Proficiency Requirement (Oregon high school graduates only)

INTERNATIONAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

FRESHMAN

  • 3.0 or higher high school grade point average (GPA) on the U.S. 4.0 grading scale.

TRANSFER

Students with 30 or more transferable quarter credits (20 semester credits) earned after high school graduation will be reviewed for admission as a transfer student—excluding English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.

  • 2.25 or higher grade point average (GPA) on the U.S. 4.0 grading scale.

UNDERGRADUATE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT

  • Students who want to immediately begin their university coursework must meet PSU’s undergraduate English Language Proficiency requirement.
  • Students who want to improve their academic English or who do not meet PSU’s undergraduate English Language Proficiency Requirement may enroll in an English Language Pathway program. Placement is determined at the time of admission.

GRADUATE

Go to pdx.edu/graduate-admissions/apply, fill out and submit the graduate application, supporting documents and $65 USD application fee online.

GRADUATE ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Eligibility is based on the completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the equivalent, along with the minimum GPA requirement and proof of English language proficiency.
  • In addition to the University’s minimum requirements, graduate applicants must meet the requirements for the specific program to which they are applying. Please contact the academic department for specific information and to confirm deadlines for your graduate program of interest.
  • 2.75 minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA on the United State 4.0 grading scale or 3.0 minimum cumulative graduate GPA in 9 or more letter-graded credits.

CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

Applicants who have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.74 or below may be eligible for University Conditional status.

GRADUATE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctoral degree in the United States, Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom.
  • 80 TOEFL IBT, 18 reading and 18 writing
  • 6.5 IELTS – Academic; 6.5 Reading and 6.5 Writing
  • 60 PTE – Academic
